Brooch & Stamps

I’m new to Berlin and in the course of discovering the city,  I found this brooch at a flea market in Berlin-Moabit. I was looking for an object that reminded me of something I had once lost in London. This way I wanted to get a piece of my second home, England, back. The stamps, however, are from Sacramento in the US. My great aunt gave them to me when I visited her in 2014. She had emigrated to the US during the 70s, but always stayed close to the family. Sadly, she passed away this year at the age of 90. I will always remember her as a woman with a fascinating story of escaping the DDR and starting anew in the US while searching for the roots of our family.
